International Human Rights Day is celebrated every year on 10th December to honor the adoption and proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the UN General Assembly on the same date in 1948. The declaration was the first document of human rights signed by all member countries and one of the first major achievements of newly formed United Nations.
This year FACES Pakistan conducted and participated in a seminar organized by Ministry of Human Rights and Minority Affairs, Government of Punjab, to observe Human Rights Day with rest of the world on the theme of “Stand Up for Some Ones’ Rights Today”. Chief Guest, Mr. Khalil Tahir Sandhu, Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs, shared that young generation of Pakistan is the torchbearer of human rights protection so for a progressive Pakistan we should try eliminating discriminatory system which causes frustration and depression in society. Secretary Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Asim Iqbal, Rector FC College Dr. James Taibi, MPA Mr. Ramaish Singh Arora, MPA Kanji Raam, Justice (R)Nasira Javed, Educationist Prof. Mudassir Hussain Siyal, President FACES Pakistan Javaid William, Arshid Bin Ahmad, Bhagat Lall, Maj. Ubaid Bin Zikria,Shahbaz Mian, renowned senior journalists Khalid Qayyum and Sohail Warraich, moderator Naulakha Church Dr. Majeed Abel and students from different colleges and universities attended the seminar.
