Fostering Young Minority Women at Leadership Positions in Punjab

//Fostering Young Minority Women at Leadership Positions in Punjab

Gender and religious inequalities are the root cause of many issues negatively affecting women participation in Pakistan. Minority women lack guidance and information regarding the areas of leadership/development and hence are only seen as teachers and nurses at large. With the support of Australian High Commission in Islamabad, this project aims to foster minority women’s participation in public life and promote leadership in higher education and media by giving them a voice through research, extensive trainings, networking and advocacy. This unique initiative will be a pioneer research on minority women at leadership positions and trainings with students will enhance their capacities as leaders and will give them much needed confidence. Under this project higher education institutions will sign MoUs with institutes and youth willing to campaign for and engage minority women in public life. A resource centre has also been established at Kinnaird College for Women University for the purpose of networking and information sharing.
